シェルターインクルーシブプレイスコパルは、障がいの有無や国籍、家庭環境の違いに関わらず、すべての子どもたちに開かれた遊び場である。内から外まで緩やかな起伏が連続することで、すべての場所がランドスケープと一体となった、多様な遊びを触発する場となっている。敷地は蔵王連峰が間近に迫り、周囲に田園風景が広がる自然豊かな場所にある。柔らかな曲線の屋根は、背後の山々に呼応する形であると同時に、皆をおおらかに歓迎する豊満な佇まいとなるようデザインされた。エントランスを入ると象徴的な体育館の木造ドームが来訪者を迎え、子どもから大人まで、さまざまな人達が運動をしたり、遊んだりしている様子が目に飛び込んでくる。建物に入った瞬間に、多様な人々がともにいる場であることを身体で感じられる空間である。また、体育館から大型遊戯場までをゆったりした幅広いスロープでつ なぐことで、誰もが大型遊戯場の滑り台の上まで自然に上がっていける。バリアの解消であるスロープが、その機能的役割を越え、子どもたちが走り回って遊べる坂道になるように、建築 の一つ一つの要素に複数の意味を重ねてデザインすることで、誰にでも開かれたインクルー シブな場を実現している。
“Shelter Inclusive Place Copal” is a playground that is open to all children, regardless of disability, nationality, or home environment. The gradual undulations continue from inside to outside, creating a place that inspires a variety of playfulness in which all areas are integrated with the landscape. The site is in a lush-natured area, with the Zao mountain range at proximity and the vast rural scenery that spreads out from its surroundings. The softly undulating roof was designed to respond to the mountains in the background and at the same time to create a welcoming appearance that includes everyone. Upon entrance, visitors are greeted by the symbolic wooden dome of the gymnasium, where a wide range of children and adults exercise and play in the same space. In addition, by connecting the gymnasium to the large playground with a spacious and wide slope, it allows almost anyone to naturally climb up to the top of the slide in the large playground. The slopes which are completely barrier-free, go beyond their functional role and become slopes where children can run around and play. While we allow for each architectural element to have multi-faceted meanings and have them overlap in the design, an inclusive place that is open to all is realized.
